Go For A Walk! Why Walking Is One of the Best Things You Can Do

Most adults spend 90% of their time indoors – which greatly increases stress! Being inside too much can cause some of the following issues:

  • Difficult sleeping — not being exposed to enough sunlight can throw off your circadian rhythms.
  • Depression — not getting enough fresh air, natural light, and green plant exposure can cause us to feel down.
  • Appetite changes — you may end up eating too much or not enough.

The Simple Solution: Step Outside

Do yourself a favor and go outside. Your body, mind and spirit will thank you! Nature has a powerful effect on the nervous system. Natural light regulates your body clock. Fresh air deepens your breathing. Green spaces reduce cortisol. Even a 15–20 minute walk can meaningfully shift your mood and stress levels.

How do you feel when you're in the great outdoors? For many people, the answer is: lighter, calmer, and more themselves. That's not a coincidence. That's biology.

Start Small

You don't have to walk for an hour to benefit. Start with 10–15 minutes. Walk around your block. Head to a nearby park. Take your dog. Bring a friend. Just go. Consistent small doses of outdoor time compound into significant health improvements over time.
