Move More: Exercise for Energy and Health | Wellness
Our bodies were designed to move. Regular physical activity doesn't just strengthen muscles—it benefits nearly every system in the body, including the brain.
Tips
• Find an activity you actually enjoy. I was running on my rebounder recently – and for some reason it was more of an effort than usual. I started my “mind change” trick. I told myself how much I enjoy rebounding, how good it is for me, and how much better I’ll feel when I’m done (all true BTW). I reminded myself that it helps me stay strong and healthy and I enjoy doing it.
And it worked! I started feeling much better about the activity and ended up enjoying it again.
Here are some ways you can – fairly easily – get more movement into your day.
• Take short walks throughout the day.
• Park farther away.
• Stretch when you've been sitting awhile.
• Include strength training as you get older.
• Remember that every minute of movement counts.

Did You Know?
Research has found that regular exercise can:
• Improve mood
• Reduce stress and anxiety
• Improve sleep
• Increase energy
• Help protect memory and brain health
• Reduce the risk of many chronic diseases
Even short periods of movement have benefits. A helpful longer-term goal for adults is about 150 minutes of moderate activity per week, along with strength training twice a week.
Encouragement
Don't wait until you feel motivated. Start moving—and motivation often follows.
Remember: Every healthy choice you make is an investment in your future self.
